The '70s: A New Phase

Looking southwest

The Sid W. Richardson Physical Sciences Building, built next to Winton-Scott Hall of Science was a unique building at the time; President Lyndon B. and Ladybird Johnson attended its opening. In this view, we see the business buildings fronting University Boulevard, which have been there since the early days.

The '70s will bring the Brachman Hall coed dormitory, the Annie Richardson Bass Building, the Cyrus K. and Ann Rickel Building for campus recreation, and the Mary Lipscomb Wiggins Hall women's dormitory. The Gymnasium will be renovated and become the Ballet Building. The Miller Speech-Hearing Clinic and the Starpoint School will be built.

The '70s also gave the campus new tennis courts in the form of the Mary Potishman Lard Tennis Center, the Bartzen Varsity Courts, the Friedman Tennis Center, and the Indoor Tennis Courts. It started with a tennis court in front of the Administration Building and Clark Hall in the '20s.
