Transcript: The only money reserved from the estate by Mrs. Burnett is $12,000 which will be held in trust, with the income going toward the support of a chair of domestic science in the Texas negro orphanage at Gilmer. This an endowment to the memory of Melissa Hardin, Mrs. Burnett's negro "mammy" of her childhood days. Mrs. Burnett has specified that the endowment will be used for scholarships for worthy students and for the support of professorships.
