Archived online exhibit from 2009

In 1949, TCU student Jimmy Paschal justified the need for an official mascot costume: “While horned frogs as such are fairly plentiful, we’d look somewhat silly dragging one around on a string.” The Daily Skiff described the first Addie costume: “The paper-mache head will have a strong plastic coating inside and out, and the body will be of a tough duvetyn material. Shading and highlights will be carried out in purple and gray.” During the following three decades, there were several changes to the Addie costume.
